Lay All Strategy for Bet-IE

This simple Lay All strategy is an easy way to pick up profit in horse races too tight to Dutch for the win market, so we firstly look for races that don't lend themselves to Dutching. So we look for a race where the head of the market in particular is very tight and a lot of 'orange boxes' are visible and look to exploit the Lay market to lock in our profit .

Now by their nature 'Handicap races' lend themselves very well to this type of lay strategy as every runner in theory is given a weight to cross the winning line at the same time. So because of this fact a lot of finishes are bunched. It's this type of finish we are looking for where the lead changes hand a number of times even in the final furlong.

We use a bookmaking style of bet and lock in a profit, to do this we look to create our own over-round to do this we simply indicate to Bet-IE we want to use the Lay All function and select Option 1.

Lay all option 1 image

Here we see in the above screen shot that Option 1 is selected and you have the chance to adjust the odds and the size of the stake to your own requirements. Now why do I enter odds below 2? Well simply if my race is identified correctly I am looking to lock in a profit if 2 runners shorten to a winning chance.

By entering odds of 1.9 I am in fact creating an over-round position for myself so let's demonstrate how this works in real time.

I look for a horse race with a low spread% figure and a close betting market, also its a 7f sprint handicap so a tight finish is likely.

So now we have the race identified we simply need to wait until the race moves in play and then select all the runners in the race, remember we are only interested in trapping as many runners as possible at odds of 1.9.

lay all example 2

Below is the bet entry, as you can see all runners are entered at odds of 1.9 and I adjusted my staking to £50 this ensures our profit will be locked in providing 2 runners are matched.

This is because our probability (or book price)at odds of 1.9 is 100/1.9 = 52.63% so if I get 2 runners matched at odds of 1.9 I would have a probability or book price of 105.26% or a guaranteed profit of 5.26% when the odds are matched. Remember though we are using the in play markets and so the odds may be matched shorter than 1.9 this simply means we will make a bigger profit on the runner.

We now leave Bet-IE monitoring the market and waiting for the odds on the runners to drop, as soon as any runner's lay odds drop to 1.9 or lower she will place a bet of £50 into the market for us. As the race develops we get a tight 2 horse finish the first trigger is matched at 1.81 and is on the runner Shabiba and this is soon followed by a trigger at 1.5 of Clifton Dancer so our position is now I make a profit of £9.50 should Shabiba win, I would profit £25 should Clifton Dancer win and £100 should any other runner win.

Clifton Dancer wins the race and so we make a £25 profit

As we can see below the only bets to trigger were Shabiba and Clifton Dancer.

This is a simple and easy to use strategy to play in tight looking races, as always just try the strategy in Learning Mode to familiarize yourself with it and start as always with smaller stakes and build up gradually. You can of course play around with the odds you enter I just find using 1.9 is easily matched in running and isn't holding a definite winning chance and so can still lose as another runner shortens.

Until next time, stay lucky!
